Sage’s entry-level, do-it-all reel series, the Spectrum C, has a lot of features to get excited about. Sage has struck a near-perfect balance between functionality and affordability with this reel series. The Spectrum C has an intelligent arbor design, a fully-sealed drag system, and a frame that combines the best of machining and die-cast production. If you’re new to the sport or need a reliable backup reel, this is a great option.
Design
Affordable Die-Cast Design – The Spectrum C features a machined die-cast frame that’s rugged and affordable. The reel also has a large arbor for increased retrieval rates, a fully machined drag knob and handle, and a Sealed Carbon Drag system. The spool of the reel also features a vented concave design for greater strength and capacity.
Finish
Machined Finish – The die-cast frame sports a machined finish and a powder-coated surface for corrosion protection. These features make this reel a great companion in either saltwater or freshwater and the reel stands up well to dings and scrapes. The drag knob and reel handle are also machined for increased durability.
Materials
Aluminum Die-Cast Construction – The Spectrum C utilizes lightweight aluminum and a machined die-cast frame for the ultimate combination of affordability and performance. The spool is ‘concave vented’ to allow line to dry quickly and to reduce overall reel weight. These reels are rugged and strong for affordable performance on the water.
Drag
Type – The Spectrum C functions on an SCS (Sealed Carbon System) drag system. The drag is fully sealed and quickly dissipates the kinetic energy from high pressure on the drag system for increased performance and lasting durability.
Materials – The SCS drag system on the Spectrum C combines proprietary high-grade US-made carbon and detailed configurations to accommodate any angling scenario. These materials are extra-rugged for performance when it counts.
Arbor Size
Large Arbor – The large arbor of the Spectrum C increases line pickup and helps anglers fight freshwater fish on a single-handed fly rod. The large arbor design of the Spectrum C increases retrieval rates and allows anglers to gain more line on any fish from freshwater Trout to saltwater Tarpon.
